We all have watched Taare Jameen Par and have appreciated the effort of Producer and Director for a great movie.
I think so too. I think this is just not a movie its a mirror of parents who want to have kids but dont understand and feel the mind of their kids.
I grew up with my parents who stood with me all my studies my exams and my plays. They never gave up when I didn't understand something. So I can honestly say on behalf of Kids, We will learn Mom dad give us your time and energy.
Some parents dont want to do that. Instead They send their kids to boarding school.
Do all kids who go to boarding school are successful. Of course not.
Do all kids who stay home are successful? The answer is no again.
The key to all this is parents attention. That is lacking and have lacked since ever.
Earlier the father goes to work. He comes home tired and thinks this is his time to relax. Mother on the other hand is not educated so all she knows is cooking and cleaning.
Nowadays both earn and come home tired. So how kids learn or study. If they have interest (some kids have) they study by themselves and school and tutor and they do very well.
Some kids who hate study because of obvious reasons, they fail.
But is it their fault solely. As a parent you need to make sure you take interest in your kids instead of just cooking and earning money and attending parties and celebrations.
Then year after year goes by and your kid is passing with minimal numbers and then you have only two choices, either get them married or pay money to colleges for their higher studies.
This all can be stopped and minimzed if we change our course of action.
My advice is:
No Boarding school for kids (unless absolutely necessary)
Both parent should sit with kid every day evn for half an hour.
Make sure you spend an hour with your kid listening to what he learnt, what he/she did in school and all what they have to say.
When exams are near avoid any guests/ parties. Make sure you stay home as well.
Never let anyone coming to your house fail your routine and time spending with kids. Thats very important.
Always keep in touch with school about their progress.
There are more tips on what to study and when...
Will continue in coming days...

Taking Bribe and giving Dowry have become a custom in India
Dear Post Readers
Toady I am going to talk about one Indian custom which is very familiar to us and also very popular.
Not sure what everyone thinks about it but will present my idea. You are welcome to post your comments.
Lets start with a story. I knew someone a very close friend of mine, her father was in higher position in government organisation. She was very good in education and she wanted to be a doctor. Her father was earning good money. Sometimes I was surprised how she was so rich because I knew what his salary was. But as you might have guessed by now he was taking bribes from all Lenders/Customers whatever you say.
One day I went to scholl and didn't see my friend. I thought she might be sick so went to her house. and found out , to my utmost surprise her father went to Jail. She was crying a lot and her mother too.
Her mother's words were What an injustice to my family. He was doing alll this for us. To collect dowry for his daughter. To make her life easier down the road. Justice system of India is very bad and blah blah blah.
I stood there shocked and all listening to her. Instead of she being angry at her husband she was supporting him in his forgery. I didn't say anything but started thinking what she said, did it make sense?
He was taking bribe to do another crime, giving dowry. But what could he do. Social customs has made him think like that. Who to blame?
We have seen or known or heard in our families and friends families how many have gone to Jail for bribery/ treachery/ dowry. But has it stopped? It still exists. Noone tries to find the root cause of these old customs which was not right. No one wants to say no to a family who ask for dowry. Everyone just want to make money to fulfill their need to pay dowry.
I believe that our Young Indian minds will stop this custom and take India to the next step where there are no bribes no dowries.
Thanks
Kiran
